BETHESDA, MD – Adhesive and Sealant Council members joined with more than 400 US manufacturers to urge Congress to pass Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) reform.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee approved H.R. 2576, the TSCA Modernization Act, and a final House floor vote is expected to come before the end of June.

ASC has joined with more than 140 members of the Alliance for American Innovation (AAI), a TSCA-reform coalition managed by the American Chemistry Council, to sign a letter to Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell urging the “Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act” be scheduled for a floor action prior to the August recess.  This act was passed in a bipartisan vote by the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works on Apr. 28.

“ASC has been involved with the effort to modernize the nation’s chemical regulatory system since 2008, and this is without a doubt the closest we have come to achieving bipartisan reform,” said Mark Collatz, ASC’s director of regulatory affairs.  “If we can keep the momentum going during the next few weeks, it is likely we will have a bipartisan TSCA reform bill on President Obama’s desk before Labor Day.”
