GURNEE, IL -- Petroferm has changed its name to Vantage Specialties, reflecting a corporate buyout that took place in 2008.

"The name change signifies the unification of all Vantage business units within the Personal Care, Performance Materials and Oleochemicals industries," the company said in announcing the switch.

Lambent Technologies, the umbrella company for Petroferm and other specialty suppliers, also will change its name to Vantage.

Petroferm supplies specialty cleaning chemistries for the printed circuit board and other industries.

“By aligning our visions, missions and value systems under the Vantage brand, we combine a collective 100+ years of experience,” said Richard McEvoy, the new CEO of Vantage Specialty Chemicals, in a press release.

Petroferm was acquired by HIG Chemical Holdings in 2008. It was founded in 1981, and was involved in the early efforts to replace CFC-containing cleaning solvents. In the mid 1990s, Petroferm acquired Siltech, Calgene Chemical, and Hansotech. The three companies were consolidated under Lambent Technologies.
