MINNEAPOLIS – Nortech Systems today reported third quarter net sales ended Sept. 30 of $30.4 million, up 8.6% year-over-year and 13% sequentially.

The EMS company posted a net loss of $124,000, compared to net income of $333,000 for the same period last year. Operating income for the quarter was $23,000. The company had reported operating losses the prior two quarters.

During the quarter, the company’s backlog rose 23%.

“We’re encouraged by the sales increase and double-digit backlog growth,” said Rich Wasielewski, Nortech Systems’ president and CEO. “Industrial customers accounted for the majority of the revenue growth, with our engineering service acquisition also contributing to both the revenue and backlog increases.”

For the nine months ended Sept. 30, Nortech’s net sales were $83.8 million, up 2.7% year-over-year. The net loss was $695,000, compared to net income of $666,000 for the same period in 2014.
