TAIPEI -- Third-quarter mobile DRAM revenues reached $4.55 billion, up 18% sequentially quarter, led by SK Hynix and Samsung.

SK Hynix saw mobile DRAM revenues jump 30.5% in the September period to $1.2 billion, said DRAMeXchange, which tracks the data.

Samsung's revenues rose 16.5% sequentially to $2.59 billion.

Samsung remains the market leader, sporting more than a 50% share of the global mobile DRAM market. SK Hynix's share rose 250 basis points to 26.4%. Both companies supply LPDDR4 chips to Apple for its iPhone 6s series, DRAMeXchange says.

The research firm predicts mobile DRAM revenues will continue to grow as fourth-quarter smartphone shipments are expected to increase 3.7% sequentially.

Average selling prices will fall in the first quarter 2016 on lower smartphone shipments, the firm added.
