PATHUMTANI, THAILAND -- SVI Public Co. will acquire an Austrian business, but the EMS company isn't disclosing any details, not even the company's name.

SVI's board, in an announcement today, said it has granted authority to a subsidiary of SVI to make the acquisition. The statement described the company to be acquired as a holding company and/or assembler of electronics products, designer of electronics and involved in sourcing of electronic parts.

The description suggests its a small EMS firm, but SVI declined to release the firm's name, location, or the purchase price. The acquisition will be paid for through a combination of operating funds and loans, SVI said.

The firm's revenues are not material to SVI's finances and thus fall below the threshhold for public reporting, the board's statement indicated.
