Semi Equipment Demand Continues Spike
SAN JOSE — North America-based semiconductor equipment manufacturers reported the 90-day moving average orders rose 13.1% worldwide in May.
The 90-day average worldwide bookings in May was $1.75 billion, up 9.6% from the revised April level.
Bookings hit their highest mark since August 2010.
Billings were up 2.6% year-over-year and 9.6% from April to $1.6 billion. Billings last topped $1.6 billion in June 2011.
The book-to-bill ratio was flat at 1.09, but well above the 1.0 mark indicating future growth. A book-to-bill of 1.09 means that $109 worth of orders were received for every $100 of product billed for the month.
