TAIPEI -- Advanced Semiconductor Engineering reported sales at its EMS unit of NT$24,845 million (US$779 million), down 28% from a year ago.
Universal Scientific Industrial, ASE's EMS arm, is the world's 11th largest contract electronics manufacturer, according to the CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY Top 50.
Overall net revenues were NT$62,601 million for the second quarter, down 11% year-over-year and up 0.4% sequentially. Net income totaled NT$4,679 million, up from NT$3,652 million a year ago and from NT$4,163 million sequentially.
Cost of revenues at the EMS segment were NT$22,326 million, down 2% sequentially. Gross margin increased 220 basis points sequentially to 10.3%, and operating margin rose 180 basis points to 3.3%.
ASE's five largest EMS customers accounted for approximately 76% of the total net revenues, with one customer accounting for more than 10% of total net revenues in the quarter.
ASE forecast third quarter EMS sales would be in line with its second-quarter results.
