Bangalore, India — Two Indian PCB design companies have been acquired by overseas companies, in unrelated deals announced last week, strengthening the possibility that the country may become a major electronics manufacturing location.
According to a Reuters news, EMS provider Celestica acquired Ramnish Elecronics Pvt. Ltd. (Hyderabad, India), which provides design, PCB assembly and system assembly to Indian and overseas markets. Celestica plans to relocate Ramnish to expanded manufacturing facilities later this year. Financial terms were not disclosed. In addition, PCB manufacturer Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik (AT&S) has acquired the Bangalore-based ECAD Technologies Pvt. Ltd., which performs design, simulation and testing of high-end PCBs, for under $2 million. ECAD clients include Texas Instruments National Semiconductor Corp. and the Indian Space Research Organization.
