HERNDON, VA -- A pair of trade groups will discuss implementation and adoption of material composition data exchange
standards at Productronica this month.
IPC and iNEMI will sponsor the meeting, scheduled for Nov. 16 from 9 to noon.
The groups will look
at understanding current business requirements and the role of MCD exchange
standards, with an emphasis on IPC-1752. They will discuss a roadmap for
implementation of standards for MCD exchange, and opportunities for cooperation.
Additional meeting details are available here.
IPC-1752 is a draft standard that provides electronic data formats and standardized forms for materials declaration data as required by the RoHS Directive. The standard complements the EIA/JGPSSI/EICTA Joint Industry Guide for Material Composition Declaration of Electronic Products, which defines the specifics of what needs to be reported (substances, threshold values and methodology).
On Nov. 15, Richard Kubin, chair of the IPC-1752 task group, will detail the pending standard. The presentation takes place 2:20-2:50 p.m., at the ZVEI Podium, Hall B3, during Productronica.
