Solectron Corp. opened a 500,000 sq. ft. services center here and said it would hire up to 700 workers in the next 12 months.
The facility will perform parts fulfillment and repair for consumer electronics like cellphones.
The new plant merges two separate facilities in Louisville, which had a combined total capacity of 310,000 sq. ft., Solectron said.
Solectron currently employs 1,300 workers in Louisville. Up to 700 additional jobs will be added over the next 12 months at the new site, including skilled technical and materials management positions, according to a report in the Lousville Courier-Journal.
