NORTH BILLERICA, MA – Soldering equipment supplier BTU International announced second-quarter net sales fell 39% year-over-year to $13.8 million.

Net sales were down 9.2% sequentially.

Net income was down 94% year-on-year to $200,000, and off 71% sequentially.

Net sales for the first six months were $28.9 million compared to $43.5 million for the same period in 2006. Net income was $900,000, compared to $5.9 million last year.

“Revenues for the quarter slipped by about $1 million due to a delay in shipments caused by unusually heavy congestion at the Shanghai port facilities at the end of the quarter,” said Paul J. van der Wansem, chairman and CEO.

BTU foresees stronger revenues in the second half driven by a growing backlog.
