TORONTO – EMS provider SMTC Corp. reported revenue of $66.1 million for the second quarter, an increase of 8% year-over-year.

Net income was $100,000, a decrease of 92% compared to the same period last year. This figure included a $1 million charge for stock-based compensation.
 
Revenue for the first six months grew 12% year-over-year.
 
Net income for the first half of the year increased by 27% to $2.9 million.
 
The company expects the second half of the year to be more challenging than originally anticipated based on customers' end market demand.
