SYDNEY –
Startronics Pty. has purchased
Sanmina-SCI's Australian EMS operations, creating the largest EMS company in Australia. Financial details were not disclosed.
Although the deal was reported on Startronics's Web site as a merger, the deal in fact was a "clear divesiture," a person speaking on behalf of Sanmina-SCI told
Circuits Assembly.Startronics is owned and controlled by
Pacific Equity Partners and
Allen Capital Private Equity. The company was formed in August 2004, the merger of
Hartec and
AEMS, the latter of which was owned by PEP. The company has 23,000 sq. meters of facilities and more than 500 staff.
Sanmina's plant is in Balcatta WA. Startronics has operations in Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Wellington, New Zealand.
