IC unit sales increased to $116 billion, falling slightly in December after 10 months of strong growth.
Revenues in North America grew 4.3% to $37.2 billion. Revenues in both Japan and Europe declined 4.1% and 0.2%, respectively (see table, below).
Sales of ASICs rose 29% and unit shipments jumped 19% over 2004. ASICs constitute 46% of the total IC market in revenues and 37% in units. ASICs for computing and peripherals grew 37% in revenues and 44% in units.
