SARATOGA, CA – Revenues and unit sales of ICs worldwide are expected to be in the double digits, says a leading research firm.

Revenues and unit sales grew 7.8% and 10.6%, respectively, in 2005, Advanced Forecasting said.
Worldwide IC revenues rose to $192.8 billion, driven heavily by consumption in Asia-Pacific which grew 18.6% year-over-year in December.

Worldwide IC unit sales increased to $116 billion, falling slightly in December after 10 months of strong growth.

Revenues in North America grew 4.3% to $37.2 billion. Revenues in both Japan and Europe declined 4.1% and 0.2%, respectively (see table, below).

Sales of ASICs rose 29% and unit shipments jumped 19% over 2004. ASICs constitute 46% of the total IC market in revenues and 37% in units. ASICs for computing and peripherals grew 37% in revenues and 44% in units.
