PHILADELPHIA – The American Competitiveness Institute has been awarded a five-year, $150 million contract by the U.S. Navy’s Office of Naval Research.
Under the contract, ACI will continue to operate and manage the Electronics Manufacturing Technology Center, which is already located at ACI, and perform research for electronics manufacturing technology (ManTech) programs for the Navy and other Department of Defense services.
ACI is an independently run scientific R&D corporation that provides educational programs to industry and conducts third-party manufacturing and test for various DoD projects.
The EMTC is a national center of excellence dedicated to the
advancement of electronics science and technology, manufacturing
technology, technology transfer, and to improvements to the U.S.
electronics manufacturing industrial workforce. EMTC expedites the transition of new electronics technology to
Navy and other DoD applications.
As part of the operation and management of the EMTC, ACI will assist
the ONR in the planning and execution of new manufacturing technology
and development initiatives. The EMTC will aide the Navy in the
development of roadmaps and investment strategies for the development
and production of key electronics technologies.
Also, ACI will
create strategic relationships between industry,
universities and government laboratories in order to disseminate research
results.
