SHANGHAI -- SMTA China will officially form next week during Nepcon China in Shanghai, kicking off its first executive committee meeting in conjunction with the SMTA Hong Kong chapter’s annual meeting.

A ceremony and dinner will be held April 5 at 5 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of Shanghai Everbright Convention & Exhibition Centre International Hotel.

The chapter executive committee, as appointed by the board of directors of SMTA China, includes founding president Abby Tsoi of Kasion Automation, senior vice president Jian Zhu of Alcatel Shanghai Bell, vice presidents Frank Wu of Siemens Logistics and Assembly Systems, Xin Zhou of Huawei Telecom, Zemin Zhang of Eastcom and Boris Mathiszik of BTU International; honorary secretaryEvelyn Baldwin of 3M Electronics; and Kelvin Poon of Omron Industrial Automation, Alex Choi of VTech Telecommunications, and Danny Li of Computime Enterprises.

Megan Wendling of MW Associates was named to its advisory council to help with public relations.

The inaugural ceremony will be officiated by SMTA president David Raby of STI Electronics and international committee chairman Dr. Charles Bauer of TechLead Corp.
