SAN FRANCISCO –
North American CIOs predicted IT budgets would grow 6.9% over the next 12 months,
down from 8.6% in March, according to a June poll by Deutsche Bank and CIO
magazine. Spending projections were up in most categories but were down for data networking, storage systems and e-business applications.
CIOs of firms of 501 to 1,000 employees expect 10% growth, up from 5% in March.
However, those at firms of 1,001 to 5,000 workers and more than 5,000 workers expect
6% growth, down one point from March. About 48% of respondents plan to increase
computer hardware spending, while 46.1% say they will spend more on storage systems.
