TORONTO -- Celestica Inc. today promoted president Craig Muhlhauser to chief executive, effective immediately. He succeeds Steve Delaney, who is resigning from Celestica to pursue other business interests.
Delaney had been president since January 2004. Celestica has had lingering financial woes: its GAAP net loss widened to $42.1 million for the September quarter, dragged down by $82 million in restructuring charges.
Muhlhauser has been president since May 2005. He was formerly president and chief executive of
Exide Technologies, a producer and recycler of lead acid batteries, and vice president of
Ford Motor Co. and president of
Visteon Automotive Systems, where he worked with Delaney.
Circuits Assembly interviewed Muhlhauser in October 2005.
In a statement, the company said Delaney made "important contributions
to the company's development. We wish him the best in his new endeavors.
