TAIPEI –  Taiwanese exports of electronic components grew 3.9% year-over-year in the third quarter, with IC exports up 8.1%, while other components were down 21.5%.

Overall electronic component exports fell 1% to $80.9 billion year-to-date through September compared to the same period last year, according to government officials.

For the year, IC exports rose 2% year-over-year to $71.8 billion, while other component exports, including PCBs, LEDs, solar panels and capacitors and resistors, fell 20%. Solar panels and capacitors and resistors saw declines of 71% and 29%, respectively, under competition from mainland China sources.

Electronic parts account for about one-third of Taiwan’s total exports, say reports.
