BATANGAS, PHILIPPINES – The Department of Labor and Employment said at least 3,000 jobs from an electronics manufacturing firm here are now available in March and April for workers who may have been displaced from the effects of Covid-19.
Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III said Perry A. Ferrer of EMS Components Assembly and Alliance Mansols requested DOLE’s assistance to select and hire the needed workforce.
As of Mar. 15, DOLE said travel restrictions and work suspension attributed to the disease have already affected the employment of 7,000 Filipino workers.
Bello said they are planning to provide subsidies for the affected workers, as well as provide them with other interventions such as skills training or employment facilitation.
