ATLANTA, GA – UP Media Group Inc. today announced signal integrity and electrical noise expert Rick Hartley will host a two-hour webinar on IoT PCB Design and Layout later this month.

Hartley’s talk takes place June 25 at 2:00 pm ET and will be available on-demand following the live presentation.

“Printed circuit boards for the Internet of Things are often driven by the need for low-power one-, two- or four-layer, low-cost boards,” Hartley said. “This combination can make PCB design a serious challenge. Low-layer count with excellent signal integrity, low noise and no EMI issues requires specific PCB design skills.”

The two-hour webinar will discuss when line impedance control is needed, impedance control with a “zero” cost adder, keeping circuit energy from spreading, proper circuit grounding in low-layer-count boards, power distribution without the benefit of power planes and controlling ground bounce and crosstalk.

The webinar is aimed at PCB designers, design engineers, system designers, hardware engineers, and SI engineers.

Hartley, a retired senior principal engineer at L-3 Avionics Systems, is principal of RHartley Enterprises, through which he consults and teaches internationally. His focus is on correct design of circuits and PC boards to prevent and resolve EMI, noise and signal integrity problems. He has consulted with major corporations in the US and 14 other countries. His career has focused on computers, telecommunications and aircraft avionics, as well as medical, automotive and appliances. He has taught seminars at numerous conferences, including the IEEE EMC Symposium, PCB West, IPC Apex Expo and others. He is on the board of directors of the Printed Circuit Engineering Association, a past member of the Editorial Review Board of Printed Circuit Design and has written numerous technical papers and articles on methods to control noise, EMI and signal integrity.

The webinar is sponsored by EMA Design Automation and hosted by PCB2Day.
