SHANGHAI – A massive fire at a Shengrui Electronic Technology factory near Shanghai that broke out yesterday killed eight, including two firefighters, according to reports.

The fire lasted from Thursday afternoon until Friday morning, engulfing the plant. More than 900 firefighters and eight robots fought the flames.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

Last year, Pegatron acquired the plant as part of its acquisition of Casetek Group. The site reportedly builds undisclosed electronics for Apple.
