KONIGSWINTER, GERMANY -- Sales by electronics manufacturing services companies in Europe fell 14% year-over-year in 2024, according to a new survey of 427 companies conducted by in4ma.

Nearly two-thirds of respondents said revenues were lower last year, the research firm found. But, the survey found, respondents are more optimistic for 2025, forecasting an aggregate 3% growth.

According to the findings, the largest companies made up a disproportionate share of the market, with 136 companies, or 7% of the total number of EMS enterprises on the European continent, making up 81% of the market. Moreover, three nations -- Germany, France, and the United Kingdom -- dominate the overall market, representing half of the region's EMS sites.

Germany’s EMS industry fell 18% on slow demand for automotive, industrial and instrumentation end-markets, offset in part by double-digit growth in the aerospace, agriculture, and white goods.

On average, EMS companies in Europe reduced staffing by 2%.
