BANNOCKBURN, IL – North American PCB shipments in July rose 20.7% on a 90-day moving average versus a year ago. Shipments increased 11.3% sequentially, according to the Global Electronics Association.

Year-to-date shipments are up 7.6% through July. The book-to-bill ratio for the month was 1.0, indicating output matched demand. The ratios are calculated by dividing the value of orders booked over the past three months by the value of sales billed during the same period from companies in the survey sample. A ratio of more than 1.0 is a positive indicator for future sales growth.

PCB bookings in July were up 22.2% compared to the same month last year and down 5.5% from June. YTD bookings are up 17.2%.

“North American PCB activity firmed in July,” said Shawn DuBravac, Ph.D., chief economist, GEA. “A pickup in shipments brought the book-to-bill into balance, indicating output is keeping pace with demand and demand remains strong.”
