BANNOCKBURN, IL – The Global Electronics Association reported that North America’s EMS industry continued to stabilize in September 2025, setting the stage for steady growth heading into the final quarter of the year.

The September book-to-bill ratio came in at 1.31, indicating that new orders remain well ahead of shipments and pointing to sustained demand. Total EMS shipments were down 1.2% year-over-year but up 1.1% from August, while year-to-date shipments decreased just 0.8%. Bookings fell 3.2% from last year and 10.9% month-over-month, yet remained 0.7% higher year-to-date compared to 2024.

“September show momentum consolidating in North America’s EMS sector,” said Dr. Shawn DuBravac, the association’s chief economist. “Conditions are stabilizing at a healthy level, pointing to sustainable growth heading into the final quarter of 2025.”

Industry analysts noted that the EMS market appears to be finding equilibrium after several months of heightened activity. Shipments improved modestly as production throughput strengthened, while bookings normalized following prior peaks. Supply conditions also showed improvement, aided by better labor availability and easing component constraints.
