MUNICH – Siemens is set to receive unconditional EU antitrust approval for its $4.5 billion bid for Mentor Graphics. Siemens announced the deal last November.

The firm’s move is a response to growing customer demand for software for smart connected products such as airplanes, trains and cars.

Siemens expects an increase in software revenue of about 33% as a result of the deal.
