MERIDIAN, IDAHO ― March 2017 ― Computrol, Inc., a world-class provider of mid- to low-volume, high-mix electronic manufacturing services to OEMs, today announced that it has purchased and installed an XQuik II with AccuCount Technology from VJ Electronix.

The innovative system uses X-ray imaging combined with proprietary image analysis to quickly and accurately count components without the need to unwind the reels and manually count.

Incorporating the XQuik into Computrol’s production process will provide more efficient movement of inventory, reducing line set up and break down time. Improved component inventory accuracy and reduced time waiting to count will boost Computrol’s responsiveness to customer needs. The XQuik also provides ease of integration with Computrol’s tower systems.

Computrol is certified to ISO 9001-2008, ISO 13485 specific to medical device quality systems, AS9100 specific to military and aerospace quality systems, IPC class II and III and J-STD certified as well as being ITAR registered and lead-free RoHS compliant. Computrol’s Materials Manager, Randy Smith, commented: “The XQuik II’s proprietary X-ray technology automatically detects component size and reports the total component count. When we place four 7” reels in the machine and press count, in less than one minute the door pops open and the four reels have been counted. A 13” or larger reel takes less than 30 seconds to count. The XQuik II has been connected to our ERP system to automatically update quantity and print a new label. This system has reduced our electronic parts cycle counting time by more than 50 percent.”

The new system may be used for a variety of inspection needs. Molded parts, electromechanical assemblies, cables and various small items may be quickly inspected and documented with a suite of built in measurement, annotation and archival tools.

Computrol’s electronics contract manufacturing expertise allows customers to realize significant improvements in cycle time, asset utilization, reliability, flexibility, and responsiveness. These objectives are achieved through integration of modern systems and processes, highly skilled and experienced people, fact-based process management, and continuous improvement.
