PENANG -- Jabil Circuit has agreed to spend about $8.4 million on a 20-acre plot here where it plans to establish a new manufacturing campus.

The company will invest as much as $280 million over the next five years on the new site in Batu Kawan, according to local reports.

The project could employ 2,500 when fully functional.

Jabil also has an EMS site in Bayan Lepas and a Green Point site Sungai Petani, Kedah, and generates about $1.5 billion in revenues locally.
