TAIPEI -- Elitegroup Computer Systems is telling customers and suppliers is will no longer actively market own-brand DIY motherboards, according to a new report.

The company instead will build motherboards on an ODM/OEM basis for customers based on specific contracts, in addition to its focus on notebooks, tablets and mini-PCs, DigiTimes is reporting, citing supply chain sources.

ECS is pulling the plug on its DIY motherboards due to lower overall demand and increased price competition from Asustek and Gigabyte, DigiTimes said.

Year to date sales for the company were down 7.7% year-over-year through May.
