ANGLETON, TX – Benchmark Electronics has purchased Secure Communications Systems for $230 million in cash.

Santa Ana, CA-based Secure specializes in industrial, aerospace and military communications. Secure Technology is one of the subsidiaries included in the transaction.

"Together, with the Secure team, we will have new opportunities with customers in our industrial markets, which include the aerospace and defense sectors," CEO Gayla Delly said in a statement. "In addition, Secure will be able to leverage Benchmark's manufacturing and supply chain expertise, operational systems and long history of quality performance to provide a broader array of solution and services to its customers.

This week Benchmark reported third quarter net income of $20.6 million, up from $16.9 million a year ago.
