GUIZHOU, CHINA -- Foxconn Technology is reportedly building a new factory here where it will assemble smartphones for Huawei.

The Western China province is seen as attractive to manufacturers because of its lower operating costs relative to the Eastern rim of the country.

Either directly or through its FIH Mobile subsidiary, Foxconn designs or builds smartphones for Apple, Huawei, Xiaomi, Lenovo (Motorola), Blackberry and Oppo, and just agreed to a deal to acquire the Nokia brand from Microsoft for $350 million.
