PORTSMOUTH, HAMPSHIRE, ENGLAND -- The University of Portsmouth has acquired ASTA Technology, an electronics training school for the European Space Agency.

Under its new managers ASTA won't have to move: the school has been located on the university campus since 2008.

One of seven ESA accredited training centers, ASTA instructs students to assemble, maintain and repair space electronics. It will be operated as a subsidiary of the university, under new operations director Dr. Misha Filip and lead instructor Brett Smith.

ASTA was founded in 1988 by Bill Strachan, who will remain with the company as consultant and instructor.
