CAMBRIDGE, MA – Most of the market value for unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) today lies in military applications, both for electric and non-electric versions, says IDTechEx. Nonetheless, small UAVs are increasing in sales fastest, and that is primarily down to non-military applications.

MALMO, SWEDEN – PartnerTech’s Electronics segment reported fourth quarter 2014 sales of SEK 342 million ($41 million), up 9.6% year-over-year. For the full year 2014, Electronics’ sales were SEK 1.3 billion, up 13.5% compared to 2013.

Year-to-date net sales for the segment are 56.4 billion yen ($463.8 million), while operating income is up 153.4% to 11.3 billion yen ($93 million).

"The growth of new capital investment for PCB production equipment for markets such as smartphone, automotive electronics and industrial equipment has brought strong business," the company said.

ST. LOUIS – Viasystems Group reported fourth quarter 2014 net sales of $308 million, a year-over-year increase of 1.5%, and a sequential increase of 2.9%.

TOKYO -- Yamaha reported sales at its Industrial Machinery unit rose 20.7% year-over-year to 38.9 billion yen (about $328 million) for 2014.

BILLINGSTAD, NORWAY -- Kitron's net profits rose in the fourth quarter despite flat revenues at the EMS company. 

MANILA – Cal-Comp plans to open a new $32 million factory in Batangas by the end of March, the company said.
