SAN BRUNO, CAWorldwide Manufacturing USA, will acquire 55% of Shanghai De Chuang Electric and Electronics Company (Chuang) in Shanghai.

Chuang is a power supply factory with designing and R&D capabilities.

Worldwide, which provides EMS and other services, said the acquisition will further the company’s direct manufacturing capabilities.

The signed letter of intent is contingent on the completion of a Chuang audit, along with completion of due diligence by Worldwide, which are in the process.

The acquisition is planned for September.
 
SUNNYVALE, CA – PCB manufacturer Sierra Proto Express has acquired Teknicircuits of Danbury, CT.
 
Sierra Proto Express will handle PCB fabrication for Teknicircuits’ customers from its Chanute, KS production center, the former PC Boards plant. Quickturn jobs will be handled at Sierra’s Sunnyvale facility.
 
Sierra expects sales to exceed $40 million this year.
 
LOGAN, UT – EMS firm Inovar Inc. will break ground on an expansion that will triple its square footage.
 
With the expansion, Inovar’s Logan facility will reach 60,000 sq. ft.
 
The company plans to enhance its capabilities in new product introduction and prototyping, test services, DfM and final assembly. Currently, the company produces about 200 different products monthly. 
 
A groundbreaking ceremony will take place on June 28 at 11:30 a.m.; customers and the public are invited.
 
ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- Jabil Circuit on Thursday night reported a 90% drop in net profits despite a 15% gain in quarterly revenue. In its third quarter ended May 31, the EMS firm reported net income of $6.2 million, down from $64.2 million last year, on sales of $3 billion.
