TAIPEI – Hon Hai (Foxconn) plans to close operations at a mobile phone facility in southern India as a result of customer changes, according to reports.

Details about the change in its customer base were not disclosed.

The facility will shut down at the end of the month.

The site currently employs 1,700 workers.

"This action is also related to a restructuring being carried out of our India operations," said a source at FIH Mobile, an arm of Hon Hai that assembles products for Apple and others.
