DALLAS, TX – Yamaha Motor Co.'s acquisition and implementation of Hitachi's placement equipment lines is proceeding apace and will be completed by the end of this month, the company said today.

The transition includes the Hitachi Sigma series mounter platform, of which Yamaha will begin to sell, support and service as of Feb. 1.

The implementation follows the announcement in September whereby Hitachi said it would withdraw from the chip mounter business, partially transferring assets related to the surface mounter business to Yamaha.

“The transition will be effective Feb. 1, 2015. In the short term, our customers will interact primarily with the same Sigma experts as they have in the past; however, Yamaha has an aggressive plan to add substantial technical depth and resources to the team to further enhance our engineering support,” said Tom Simpson of Hitachi High Technologies America.
