ST. PETERSBURG – Workforce reductions will hit Jabil Circuit’s headquarters next month as the Top Tier EMS firm will axe some 150 employees, or roughly 7.5% of the site’s staff, a local paper is reporting.

The cuts will affect 100 manufacturing and 50 office positions, the St. Petersburg Times reported. The cuts come on top of 120 layoffs made in September.

Earlier, Jabil cut about 80 staff from its Billerica, MA, plant.

The company’s previously announced expansion plans in the area are unaffected, the report said. In September, Jabil and local officials agreed on a deal in which the company will receive $34.4-million in economic incentives in exchange for expanding its local presence and creating 858 additional jobs.

About 2,000 employees work at the plant and headquarters, the Times said.
