TOKYO – Shipments of SMT process and assembly equipment fell 81% during the first quarter, according to the Japan trade group that tracks the data.

The value of SMT equipment shipments during the March quarter was 10.6 million yen, down from 55.9 million yen the year before, the Japan Robot Association reported. Exports fell 84.8% during the period, while domestic (Japan) shipments were down 66.6%.
