JACKSON, MI -- Sparton Corp. will relocate its headquarters to Schaumburg, IL, in October as part of its corporate restructuring.
The move from Jackson to the northwest Chicago suburbs will reduce overhead costs and aligning corporate operations closer to strategic market design centers, the company said in announcing the move.
“While this decision was extremely difficult, it is critical for us to take the steps necessary to ensure the strategic growth of the company,” said Cary Wood, president and CEO. “We’ve been faced with high infrastructure costs for some time now and we need to optimize our resources to a much more competitive level.”
The Jackson facility held company headquarters and a manufacturing plant. The latter's products are being moved to the company's facilities in Brooksville, FL, and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and the site will be closed by June 30.
Sparton said 15 workers would be laid off because of the move.
