DOUARNENEZ, FRANCE -- A subsidiary of Top 12 EMS provider Asteel has opened insolvency proceedings in the wake of the company's decision to lay off 44 workers here.

A local court has named an administrator for Asteel Flash Bretagne, EE Times UK reported today. The company will be under court observation for six months or more.

The site announced in April it would lay off 44 workers, 33% of its workforce.
