ARLINGTON, VA -- Worldwide electronic component orders for September continued a climb that began in August, while the 12-month average remained flat, according to the monthly index compiled by the Electronic Components Association.

ECA’s monthly report is derived from order information collected in confidence from leading electronic component manufacturers.

The September report could signal a period of modest growth, according to Bob Willis, ECA president.

“Year-over-year growth has looked good over the last two months and the market has stabilized somewhat according to our 12-month moving average,” says Willis. “Last year at this time the recession really hit home, so the year-over-year growth was expected. Still, this is a welcome trend and if consumer demand continues – especially in China and Southeast Asia – it bodes well for the electronics industry.”
