TORRANCE, CA — Seika Machinery has developed an application for the recovery of data and removal of moisture from cellphones submerged in water.

Japanese police departments reportedly are using a McDry storage cabinet at scientific investigation labs in all prefectures. The agencies use the dry boxes to remove moisture from waterlogged cellphones water and to permit safe data retrieval.

Among the McDry units used for the removal of moisture from cellphones in Japan are MCU-201, MCU-340, MCU-401 and DXU-1001.
