ARLINGTON, VA – The Electronic Components Association today revised its October components orders upward, saying new data show a continued climb in both the monthly and 12-month averages.

Since issuing its initial report on Nov. 16, ECA has received new information from participants that contributed to the rosier industry picture, the trade group said. As such, it raised both the October figures, which initially showed a drop, and the annual average, which it previously pegged as flat.

“This was what we were hoping to see, but it wasn’t indicated in the original October report,” says Bob Willis, ECA president. “In addition to the October data, we received information from the past several months showing the market has been rising steadily since July, a good sign we are in the midst of a recovery.”

Components are considered a leading indicator of end-product demand.
