ATLANTA -- ASYS Inc. and EKRA Americas will merge under the name of ASYS Group Americas as of Jan. 1, the companies said today.

The new entity will combine its sales, marketing and service in North and South America. The regional headquarters will remain in Suwanee, GA, a suburb of Atlanta, with offices in Marlborough, MA; Hillsboro, OR; San Jose, Mexico and Brazil.

ASYS promoted general manager Markus Wilkens to president of ASYS Group Americas. EKRA Americas president Steve Hall will drive the sales and marketing strategy.

In a press release, ASYS Group co-owner Werner Kreibl said, “Sales activities in the Americas are increasing again and this is the perfect time to merge the companies to provide an even stronger and better network by leveraging the regional strengths of both organizations."

Hall added, “A strategy is being put in place that will allow us to fully utilize the strengths of both organizations throughout the Americas. Ultimately our customers will benefit from the implementation of a more efficient sales and service organization.”

The EKRA brand name for screen printers remains within the ASYS Group, the company said. ASYS acquired EKRA in 2005.
