ARLINGTON, VA -- Electronics component orders slowed in February after a big leap in January, an industry trade group said today.
The 12-month average, comparing this year's results to last year's, continued an ascent that began last summer, according to the monthly report compiled by the Electronic Components Association (ECA).The data consolidate order information collected in confidence from leading electronics component manufacturers.
The latest results suggest the market is cooling after the near-term surge of orders, according to ECA president Bob Willis.
"Component manufacturers had a jump in orders over the last few months to replenish inventories for end products such as cell phones and notebook computers," said Willis. "I think we're seeing things even off a bit now that end-product manufacturers have brought their inventories back to levels that can meet anticipated demand."
