WESTLAKE, OH -- Nordson Corp. turned in another stellar quarter as net income more than doubled from last year to $65 million.

For the quarter ended April 30, sales rose 27% year-over-year to $319 million. Operating profit rose 60% to $92 million, and operating margin grew to 29%.

Sales, operating profits and net income all set company highs.

The company's Adhesive Dispending Systems unit saw sales volume rise 18% over the prior year as sales reached $59.7 million, with operating margins reaching 37%. Its Advanced Technology Systems unit's sales reached $33.7 million, with volume up 23% over last year and operating margin improving to 30%. The latter includes such brands as Asymtek, Dage, EFD and YesTech.

Nordson guided for fiscal third-quarter sales of $315 million to $326 million, up as much as 17%, with six to 10 percentage points from volume increases.
