TAIPEI -- Foxconn, the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer, reported May revenue fell slipped sequentially after a deadly disaster took several finishing plants offline for days.
For the month, sales were down 2.1% sequentially to NT$200.6 billion ($6.95 billion). Revenue was up 35% year-over-year, however, boosted by demand for Apple iPad2 tablets.
The printed circuit board company cited an explosion that killed three workers at a polishing plant in Chengdu as the cause for the sales drop. After the May 20 disaster, Foxconn shut down all its China-based polishing plants for a few days for inspection, and the Chengdu plant was taken offline for two weeks.
