TAICHUNG CITY, TAIWAN -- Hon Hai reportedly plans to extend its foray into a one-stop supply chain, announcing an NT$100 billion industrial park in where it would build machine tool, automatic equipment and robots.
The proposed deal in the West-Central Taiwanese municipality would be a joint deal with the local government. Hon Hai reportedly plans to site the park on a 50 hectare plot near the existing Central Taiwan Science Park.
According to published reports, Taichung deputy mayor Hsiao Chia-chi both confirmed Hon Hai's interest and the local government's assistance.
Hon Hai, the official name of Foxconn, the world's largest electronics manufacturing services company, has previously said it wants to use robots to automate large portions of its production lines.
