MINNEAPOLIS -- Machine vision OEM Datalogic will acquire PPT Vision in a deal valued at $5.2 million.
Under the terms of the agreement, PPT will operate as a separate company within Datalogic's Industrial Automation division. After the closing, which will take place almost immediately, Guglielmo Piazzi will become chairman of PPT, reporting to Datalogic CEO Gian Paolo Fedrigo. Bob Heller will continue as president and CEO of PPT.
PPT makes high-performance inspection systems such as smart cameras and embedded vision systems. Datalogic produces bar code readers, data collection mobile computers, RFID and vision systems.
