NEENAH, WI – Plexus today reported fiscal second-quarter net income fell 16% to $20 million compared to the same period last year.

Net sales were up 1% year-over-year and 8% sequentially to $573.5 million.

Revenue beat the midpoint of the company's guidance range, driven largely by new program wins.

“The strong revenue growth we delivered set a record for the company and marked a return to sequential growth," said CEO Dean Foate. "With the exception of our Networking/Communications sector, which remains volatile, we experienced a relatively stable demand environment during the quarter. Each of our other market sectors performed consistent with or above our expectations."

During the quarter, Plexus won 28 new programs, good for an estimated $316 million in annualized revenue when fully ramped, including $100 million of revenue from the strategic manufacturing arrangement with Kontron announced in January.

The firm expects third-quarter 2012 revenue guidance of $590 million to $620 million.
